Which Lucifer headlamp do we recommend for running?
For running, you need a lightweight headlamp that fits well on your head. Our S2X model with 1200 lumens is suitable for recreational and ultra runs. The higher model Lucifer M6+ shines up to 1900 lm, has extreme endurance and is suitable for long 24h runs and off-road running.
How many lumens do I need to run?
For a normal run in the woods 200-400 lumens is enough, in heavy terrain you can use 800 lumens. A higher lumen output than 800lm only extends your range and is no longer completely necessary for normal running.
Of course, what lumen is sufficient can be subjective for each person. Slower runners can shine even e.g. 200lm and conversely there are those who switch to the highest mode during a night race. Choosing the right headlamp model is thus always a compromise between endurance and overall weight, as the weight of the batteries makes up a significant part of the overall weight.
Especially for women and long distance runners, we recommend to consider our smaller S2X headlamp model first and only get the M6+ if you don't mind the extra weight or if you really need the power or endurance.
